On Saturday, May 21st, 2011. Buddy Society will be hosting a show to merge creator Violet Valen’s teddy bear fashions with her favorite musical live acts and DJs. It will be held at the small, intimate setting of the historic Highland Park Ebell Clubhouse in Los Angeles.

The live performers will be Puro Instinct (Mexican Summer), Diva Dompé (formally of Pocahaunted) and Vex Ruffin (Stones Throw). The DJ’s will be Peanut Butter Wolf who will be spinning all music videos from female artists, Dam-Funk who is doing an all new wave set, and Michael Stock of Part Time Punks. The show is open to the public from 7 PM-midnight with cocktails, food & a pop-up boutique selling Violet’s clothing creations which she normally sells exclusively on her website.

Entry is $10, 21+

In 2004, Valen created a sweatshirt with a destuffed and reconstructed teddy bear’s head as a birthday gift to a child. This gave her the idea of making them for young women instead of kids and Buddy Society was born. Describing her pieces as “wearable art”, Violet’s designs all incorporate actual vintage teddy bears she finds in second-hand shops. Each cut & sew creation is a one of a kind and with this show, she is selling Buddy denim shorts, skirts, and boyfriend jeans for the first time.
